Yes, you can vape without nicotine. A nicotine-free e-liquid is an entirely normal liquid: same base, same flavourings, same vapour. The only thing that really changes is the throat hit, which is softer. Taste, cloud and coil life stay exactly the same.

What is vaping without nicotine actually like?

Why French 50ml bottles are sold at 0mg

This is the part that surprises people discovering a French catalogue. Here, everything above the small format is sold without nicotine: 50ml, 100ml, 200ml, 500ml and beyond.

The liquid is ready. Already diluted, already flavoured, already at the right VG/PG ratio. Open it, fill your tank, vape: nothing to mix, no steeping required.

The bottle is bigger than its contents. A 50ml comes in a 60ml bottle, a 100ml in a 120ml bottle. Those 10 or 20ml of air are not a filling error: that is the room reserved for nicotine.

The flavouring is calculated for that. The recipe is slightly over-flavoured so it still lands right once the booster goes in. Vaped as it is at 0mg, it simply comes across as nice and full.

How to choose a nicotine-free e-liquid

1. VG/PG ratio: start from your hardware

The ratio is the balance between vegetable glycerine (VG), thick and vapour-producing, and propylene glycol (PG), thin and flavour-carrying.

• 50/50: thin, for pods and small mouth-to-lung tanks. More noticeable hit at equal strength.
• 65/35 and 70/30: the standard for 50ml bottles. Plenty of vapour, still fluid enough for most kits, airy MTL setups included.
• 80/20 and above: properly thick, for sub-ohm direct lung (DL) only.

2. The flavour family

Without nicotine, flavour becomes the only criterion that really matters. Four big families share the shelf:

• Fruity: red berries, citrus, tropical. The most immediate, the easiest to vape all day.
• Dessert: pastry, cream, caramel, cereals, chocolate. The richest, and the ones that gain most from 0mg since nothing masks the recipe.
• Classic and tobacco: the closest to the original taste, usually sought with nicotine.

This is the real difference. At 0mg the inhale is soft, almost silky. Some love it, others feel something is missing. Three levers to compensate:

• Raise the PG. A 50/50 hits harder than a 70/30, even with no nicotine at all.
• Go fresh. Menthol and icy notes create a very clear throat sensation.
• Tighten the draw. A more closed airflow and warmer vapour make the inhale more present.

Just as much as any other. Vapour comes from vegetable glycerine and from the power your hardware puts through the coil, not from nicotine: a 70/30 at 0mg makes exactly the same cloud as a 70/30 at 3mg.

Can I add nicotine afterwards?

Yes, and that is precisely what the free headroom in the bottle is for. One 10ml Unicorn Boost at 20mg/ml in a 50ml gives 60ml at around 3mg/ml. Two boosters in a 100ml give the same. Pick a booster with the same ratio as your liquid so you do not change its texture.

Does it taste different without nicotine?
