Disposable puff or rechargeable puff? In short: a disposable puff is used with the liquid that comes in the box, and when it is finished you get another one. A rechargeable puff has a part you keep, the battery, and a part you renew: the liquid, which you pour in yourself from a 10ml bottle, or the cartridges. The confusion comes from a single word. On every puff in this guide, including the 30,000-puff models, the battery recharges, often over USB-C, and some product pages even call them "rechargeable puffs". But the right question is a different one: are you recharging only the energy, or the liquid too?
| Criterion | Disposable puff | Rechargeable puff |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | often USB-C rechargeable on 30K models | USB-C rechargeable |
| Tank | already full, or filled with the kit's bottles | cartridge to refill or pod to swap |
| Liquid | only what comes in the box | a 10ml nic salt e-liquid of your choice, or new pods |
| Daily routine | charge the battery | charge, and now and then refill or swap a pod |
| What you throw away | the whole puff, once the liquid runs out | the empty bottle or the spent pod |
Many puffs sit halfway between the two columns. For the general comparison, see disposable vs rechargeable vape; for costs, how much does a puff cost.
Disposable puffs: 30K, 40K and 42K explained
The number on the box is the manufacturer's stated puff count. Two things make it possible: a battery that recharges and a lot of liquid in the pack, often two 10ml bottles of nic salt e-liquid. It is a closed kit: everything is already in the box.
The Falcon-X Plus JNR 28K is the typical example: 950mAh rechargeable battery, a 10ml cartridge pre-filled with 2ml and two 10ml bottles. Same recipe for the Gorilla X JNR 43K (1000mAh, 15ml cartridge pre-filled with 2ml) and the AeroX JNR 32K (850mAh, 2ml pre-filled cartridge). The XFighter 32K by Fighter Fuel follows the same pattern with 1000mAh, while the Monster Puff 28K goes for a huge 20ml tank, with two 10ml bottles.
If you would rather not touch a bottle at all, there are two options. The Dojo Blast 30K by Vaporesso comes with two tanks already filled with 10ml of nic salt e-liquid and a 1000mAh battery. The Cristal Puff 28K runs on interchangeable pre-filled capsules: 8 capsules of 2ml and a built-in compartment holding up to 4 spares, with auto-draw mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping.
Why some product pages say "rechargeable puff"
The ZPulse JNR 42K presents itself as a long-lasting rechargeable puff: dual 10ml tank to switch from one flavour to another, two 10ml JNR e-liquids at 20mg/ml, 1200mAh USB-C battery, up to about 9 hours of use depending on your pace. The Le Bar 40K by Lost Vape uses the same word: a clear 20ml tank fed by the two included bottles, side filling, auto-draw. And the JPuff JNR 47K, just 115mm tall, has a 10ml cartridge you fill through the silicone plug on its side.
The product pages are right: a USB-C battery and liquid poured from a bottle are the two halves of a rechargeable. But the liquid in the box is a fixed amount: as long as you are using that, the puff behaves like a kit you use to the end. It becomes rechargeable in practice when, once the bottles are empty, you pour in new ones.
Rechargeable puffs: how they really work
In a rechargeable puff the battery stays and the liquid is renewed, in one of two ways.
Swapping pods or cartridges
The STX 4 in 1 by Dinner Lady, designed with ZOFO, has stackable pods that click onto the battery with a twist and click mechanism: you switch from one to the next with a single move. The kit holds four 2ml pre-filled pods, each with a different flavour, at 20mg/ml nic salt. The Duo Kit 35K by Dinner Lady is a pre-filled rechargeable system with two cartridges: two 10ml cartridges in a translucent tank, so you can alternate between two flavours and check the level at a glance, with an 800mAh battery and an HD screen.
Refilling from a 10ml bottle
The Stellarc JNR 50K is the reference model in our rechargeable puff guide. Its product page calls it disposable, like the Falcon-X Plus, but with a 1200mAh battery, a 10ml cartridge pre-filled with 2ml and three 10ml nic salt bottles in the box, refilling becomes a habit from day one.
Once the supplied bottles are finished, you carry on with a 10ml nic salt e-liquid, and that is where you choose the flavour. In the JNR 10ML range, Mr Blue brings together cranberry, blackberry and raspberry, lifted by a fresh touch, and Strawberry Bull pairs an energy drink with the sweetness of strawberry. In the ELFLIQ 10ML range, Limonade Framboise Bleue combines a fizzy, fresh lemonade with a tangy blue raspberry, the cult blue razz of puffs, and Elfbull Glacé delivers the taste of a well-known energy drink with an icy freshness. The model ranking is in our best rechargeable puffs 2026.

Which one to choose for the way you vape
- You vape now and then. Liquid already inside, no bottles: the Dojo Blast 30K or the Cristal Puff 28K.
- You vape every day. The battery matters: the ZPulse JNR 42K lasts up to about 9 hours per charge, the Le Bar 40K shows the charge percentage on its screen.
- You want to pick your flavours. The Stellarc JNR 50K with a JNR or ELFLIQ 10ml, the STX 4 in 1 with four flavours, or the Duo Kit 35K to alternate between two.
- You want as few steps as possible. Auto-draw, no buttons: Le Bar 40K, JPuff JNR 47K, Cristal Puff 28K.
The Unicorn tip: before you buy, read three lines of the product page. Battery: does it recharge, and with which cable? Liquid: tank already full or bottles to pour? Afterwards: will you be buying 10ml bottles, pods or a new puff? If the answer is "bottles", you are holding a rechargeable, whatever the label says. For the Le Bar 40K and the JPuff JNR 47K, the USB-C cable is not included.
Frequently asked questions
- Is a 30K puff rechargeable?
- The battery is. The liquid depends on the model: the Dojo Blast has tanks that are already filled, the Falcon-X Plus a cartridge and two bottles to pour in. A rechargeable battery does not make a rechargeable puff: look at what happens to the liquid.
- What is the difference between a disposable and a rechargeable puff?
- A disposable is used with the liquid in the box, then replaced. A rechargeable keeps its battery and renews the liquid, from a 10ml bottle or with new pods. What changes is what you buy next.
- What do you fill a rechargeable puff with?
- With a 10ml nic salt e-liquid, like the bottles supplied in the kits: you will find them in the JNR 10ML and ELFLIQ 10ML ranges. On the STX and the Duo Kit, you switch from one pod or cartridge to another instead.
- Which puff should you choose for your first one?
- The one with the fewest steps: liquid already inside and auto-draw, like the Cristal Puff 28K. Our puffs guide covers the basics.
Every model is on the puffs page; the 10ml bottles to fill your rechargeable puff are in the JNR 10ML and ELFLIQ 10ML ranges.
