How much does a puff cost? Real prices, cost per puff and traps to avoid

A puff (a disposable vape) costs between EUR 7.90 and EUR 24.90 in 2026, depending on how long it lasts: EUR 7.90 to EUR 8.90 for a 10,000-puff format, EUR 8.90 to EUR 12.90 for the 28,000-to-43,000-puff generation, and up to EUR 21.90 (EUR 24.90 undiscounted) for a 77,000-puff device. In use, that works out at EUR 0.28 to EUR 0.89 per 1,000 puffs, or about 0.03 cents a puff on the big formats. It is that cost per puff, not the sticker price, that tells you whether a puff is expensive.

Three things stand out. The Cristal Puff 28K at EUR 8.90 offers the best purchase price to puff count ratio in the catalogue. The Lucky Vibes 77K is the cheapest per puff (EUR 0.28 per 1,000) but asks for EUR 21.90 up front. And the 10,000-puff formats, for all their low entry price, remain by far the dearest in use.

The real calculation: cost per puff

This is THE reflex to have before buying: divide the price by the number of puffs advertised.

• A 10,000-puff at EUR 7.90 gives EUR 0.79 per 1,000 puffs
• A 28,000-puff at EUR 8.90 gives EUR 0.32 per 1,000 puffs, or 0.03 cents a puff

How does that compare with refilling?

What makes the price vary

The number of puffs first of all - that is the main factor. The technology next: rechargeable battery (standard on the big formats), control screen, power adjustment. The bottles included too: the big formats ship with two or three 10ml bottles, which accounts for part of the price. The traps to avoid

• Marketing puff counts - the advertised figures assume short puffs. Count on 20 to 30% less in real use, on every model, whatever the brand.
• Comparing a crossed-out price with a sale price - from one site to another, the same model may be shown at EUR 14.90 "recommended price" or EUR 11.90 on offer. Always compare what you actually pay, and divide it by the puffs.
• Cut-price puffs bought outside the proper channels - a 4-euro puff from a late-night corner shop is rarely compliant with the regulations (nicotine at 20mg/ml or less, compliant tank). Metallic taste, generously counted puffs, dubious provenance.
• Forgetting the rechargeable alternative - if you vape every day, a rechargeable pod plus e-liquid comes to about EUR 15 a month. The puff is unbeatable for convenience and simplicity, but not on monthly cost.
