A bottle of 1 litre e-liquid is twenty 50ml bottles gathered into one — and a price per millilitre that bears no comparison. It is where the logic of the large format ends up, and it has become the default for everyday vapers. 200ml, 500ml, 1 litre: this guide covers what exists, what each format actually changes, and above all the litre — which recipes, how many boosters, and how to avoid picking the wrong flavour when you are committing to three months of vaping.

What is a large-format e-liquid?

A large-format e-liquid means any bottle above 50ml, which covers four steps:

  • 100ml — the entry point to large format
  • 200ml — the price-and-choice compromise, with the widest flavour range
  • 500ml — for heavy consumers and households with several vapers
  • 1 litre — the king of formats, unbeatable per millilitre

All of them are sold as shortfills: they arrive at 0mg, because French law prohibits the sale of nicotine-containing e-liquid above 10ml. Nicotine is added on demand, with boosters — the only handling a large format requires, covered further down.

The volume on the label is liquid: a 1 litre bottle really does contain a litre of 0mg e-liquid, ready to vape. Boosters go in on top and increase the final volume: 50ml at 0mg plus one 10ml booster gives 60ml at roughly 3mg. That is why you nicotine in portions rather than the whole bottle at once.

The 4 good reasons to move to large format

1. A price per millilitre divided by 3 to 4

The bigger the bottle, the less each millilitre costs, and the gap depends on no promotion: between a 50ml and a 1 litre, the price per ml is divided by three to four. As orders of magnitude, against a 50ml: a 200ml saves around 40% per millilitre, a 500ml around 65%, a 1 litre around 70%. These are landmarks, not promises to the cent.

Format Equivalent in 50ml bottles Boosters for ~3mg Indicative duration at 10ml/day Saving per ml (order of magnitude)
50ml (reference) 1 1 5 days —
200ml 4 4 ~3 weeks ≈ −40%
500ml 10 10 ~7 weeks ≈ −65%
1 litre 20 20 ~3 months ≈ −70%

You will not find a single price in this guide, and that is deliberate: our prices move daily, and any figure written here would be wrong within a month. The current price is on the product page, and the best discounts of the moment are in the Unicorn Deals selection. The ratios above, on the other hand, stay true.

2. Fewer orders, less waste

One 1 litre bottle replaces 20 bottles of 50ml: 20 bottles, 20 caps and 20 seals that never reach the bin. A 500ml replaces 10, a 200ml replaces 4.

3. The quality is exactly the same

Large formats are not second-rate: brands often reserve their most sought-after recipes for them, because those are the ones people vape all day. Le Gros Jus, Biggy Bear and the 500! range use the same flavourings and the same base as their small-bottle equivalents.

4. You never run dry on a Sunday evening

With a 500ml or a 1 litre on the shelf, you are covered for weeks, even months. No more emergency orders at the moment there is nothing left to vape.

1 litre e-liquid: which one to choose in 2026?

The litre is the format most people ask about: it is where the gap in price per millilitre is widest, and it is also where the flavour choice matters most, since a litre represents roughly three months of vaping at 10ml a day. Here is our full 1 litre range, sorted by family.

Le Gros Jus, the in-house 1 litre range

The Le Gros Jus collection is our litre range, designed and made in France through a partnership between Unicorn Vape and Maousse Lab. The brief: sweet recipes round enough to be vaped all day without tiring. It is the heart of the shelf, and where the new releases land.

The last four are the range's recent additions: if you already know the classics, start there.

The fruity and fresh 1 litres

The litre is not reserved for sweet recipes. Five of them cover fruity ground, from straight tropical to pure menthol, with varied ratios — useful if you vape on a pod rather than a sub-ohm kit.

Fat Friday: the entry level of the litre

Two recipes born as Black Friday special editions sit at the entry level: they are the most accessible litres on the shelf, ideal for a first go at the format.

  • Fat Friday 1 Litre — on a pound cake base, a crushed ripe banana and a creamy peanut butter. In 70/30.
  • Fat Friday 2 1 Litre — a crisp russian cigarette biscuit dipped in a smooth custard. In 70/30.

Jin and Juice in 1 litre

French juice maker Jin and Juice brings two recipes to a special 1 litre edition. Both also exist in 50ml and 200ml: taste first, commit after.

Big Juice: the single-flavour litre

One last family, and not the least useful: the Big Juice range takes the opposite approach to complex recipes. These are single-flavour litres built on one clear idea — caramel, fruit, vanilla — with no stacking of layers. On a large format that is often the smart call: the more layered a recipe is, the more likely it is to tire you out after a few weeks, where a simple flavour can be vaped all day for months. If you want a litre to put on the shelf and forget about, start here.

200ml: the format for trying large format out

If committing to a litre of a flavour you do not know puts you off, the 200ml exists for exactly that: around 40% saving per millilitre, for the equivalent of only four 50ml bottles. It is also the format with the widest choice, including brands absent from the litre range.

500ml: the best balance of quantity and commitment

The 500ml is the ideal middle step: around 65% saving per millilitre, nearly as much as a litre, for half the volume to get through — about seven weeks at 10ml a day. The 500! range, designed and made in France by Unicorn Vape, dominates the format, with a clear fruity and fresh leaning.

Adding nicotine to a large format: the one rule

A booster is a 10ml bottle dosed at 20mg/ml of nicotine — ours is the Unicorn Boost. The rule printed on all our product pages fits in one sentence:

The rule: mix 50ml of 0mg liquid with 1 Unicorn Boost to get 60ml at roughly 3mg. Everything follows: 200ml needs 4 boosters, 500ml needs 10, 1 litre needs 20. To aim for roughly 6mg, double the number of boosters.
Bottle volume (0mg) For ~3mg/ml For ~6mg/ml
200ml 4 boosters 8 boosters
500ml 10 boosters 20 boosters
1 litre 20 boosters 40 boosters

In practice, on a 500ml and above, do not nicotine the whole bottle at once. Pour 50ml into an empty bottle, add one Unicorn Boost, close it and shake for thirty seconds: you get 60ml ready to vape, and the rest waits at 0mg. Three advantages: the final volume stays manageable, your nicotined liquid is always fresh, and you can change strength along the way without having spoiled a whole litre. Leave it to stand for two hours and it is ready — modern shortfills do not need days of steeping.

For a dose that does not land on a round number — an in-between strength, your own base, a bespoke mix — our DIY calculator gives the exact millilitres. And if you do not yet know what strength to aim for, our guide to nicotine strength answers that before you buy the boosters.

How to choose your first large format

  1. Pick a flavour you already know. Several litre recipes also exist in 50ml or 200ml: taste first, commit after.
  2. Start with the 200ml. The least risky step: the equivalent of four 50ml bottles, about three weeks of vaping.
  3. Go for a simple recipe. Heavily constructed profiles tire you out faster on a big volume — the whole logic of the Big Juice range.
  4. Check the VG/PG ratio. Our litres run from 50/50 to 75/25: a 50/50 goes anywhere, pods included; a 70/30 or 75/25 is made for sub-ohm.
  5. Look at the safe bets. Recipes that have been running for years owe it to one thing: people do not get bored of them. That is exactly the criterion that matters here.

Frequently asked questions

Which 1 litre e-liquid should I choose?
It depends on your profile. On the sweet side, Le Gros Jus Reserve (vanilla milk, puffed rice, maple syrup) and Le Grand Écran (caramel popcorn) are our two safe bets. On the fruity side, Le Gros Fruité (pineapple, mango); on the fresh side, Le Gros Glaçon (polar mint). For something simple you can stay on for months, look at the Big Juice range. It is all in the large formats category.
How many boosters do you need for 1 litre?
20 boosters for roughly 3mg/ml, and 40 for roughly 6mg. The base rule: one 10ml Unicorn Boost at 20mg/ml nicotines 50ml of 0mg liquid, giving 60ml at around 3mg. Our advice: work in 50ml portions rather than nicotining the whole litre in one go.
How long does a 1 litre e-liquid keep?
An e-liquid keeps for 1 to 2 years away from light and heat. At 10ml a day, a litre is vaped in about three months: there is no risk of it going out of date. Keep the bottle closed at room temperature, and only nicotine the amount you are going to get through.
Shortfill or longfill: what is the difference?
A shortfill is a large-format bottle (100ml, 200ml, 500ml, 1 litre) delivered at 0mg, ready to vape, meant to take boosters. A longfill is a flavour concentrate to be diluted into a neutral base, in DIY. The large formats sold on unicornvape.com are all shortfills: nothing to make, only nicotine to add if you want it.
Can you vape a 1 litre e-liquid in a pod?
Technically yes, the liquid is the same — but check the ratio. Most of our litres are 70/30 or 75/25: those glycerine levels are built for sub-ohm kits and clog a small MTL pod's coils quickly. On a pod, go for the 50/50 recipes: Le Gros Glaçon, Le Gros Blue Raspberry or Mr. Crumblecorn.
Is the price per millilitre really divided by three?
Yes, and often by four between a 50ml and a 1 litre. The reasoning depends on no price tag: a litre replaces 20 bottles of 50ml, and it never costs 20 times what a 50ml costs. Count on roughly −40% per millilitre on a 200ml, −65% on a 500ml and −70% on a 1 litre. The current price of each reference is on its product page, and the running discounts are in Unicorn Deals.

In summary

  • 200ml — 4 bottles of 50ml, about three weeks, ~40% saving per ml. For trying without committing.
  • 500ml — 10 bottles of 50ml, about seven weeks, ~65% saving. The best balance.
  • 1 litre — 20 bottles of 50ml, about three months, ~70% saving. The champion on price per millilitre, for a flavour you are sure about.

The only handling to plan for is the nicotine: one Unicorn Boost per 50ml, in portions. Five minutes, and a vaping budget on a different scale.
